America SCORES New England
Mission: The mission of America SCORES New England is to empower students in urban communities using soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning.  With teamwork as the unifying value, America SCORES New England inspires youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become agents of change in their communities.

American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay

Mission: The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

ArtSpan at the Munroe Center for the Arts

Mission: ArtSpan, the non-profit educational program of Munroe Center for the Arts, is committed to providing quality art education for the community, including arts vacation programs for ages 5-11 and school-year programs for all ages.

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

Mission: The goal of The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The Walk is produced by the Avon Foundation, an accredited 501(c)(3) public charity, which also oversees management and distribution of the funds raised. 100% of the net proceeds from the Avon Walks are returned to the breast cancer cause nationwide to support breast cancer awareness, screening and diagnosis, treatment, support services and scientific research with an emphasis on reaching the medically underserved community.

Birthday Wishes
Mission: Birthday Wishes' mission is to provide birthday parties to homeless children. Birthday Wishes recognizes the importance of a birthday in a child's life and believes that the gift of a birthday party provides normalcy, joy and hope in their otherwise unsettled lives. Our grassroots philosophy fosters the spirit of volunteerism and community service in the adults, children and families who donate their time and resources to the Birthday Wishes' mission.

Boston Ballet Volunteer Association
Mission: The mission of the BBVA is to create a community of individuals who share a love of ballet. We offer opportunity for social interaction, for learning about the art of dance, and for contributions of service to the art of dance and to the Boston arts community in general. We also offer opportunities for development of professional skills, including leadership development for those who demonstrate that potential. We foster creativity and enthusiasm within our organization and inspire outreach to the larger community. We provide both personal and professional fulfillment, as we work on behalf of a non-profit organization. We strive to dentify unique and potential talents of individual volunteers, schedule appropriate work assignments that will ensure success for the volunteer and for the Ballet, and provide training and orientation as needed to ensure this success.

Boston Cares
Mission: Boston Cares organizes and leads team-oriented volunteer opportunities and services in and around Boston that have a positive impact on individuals and communities. Big Sister Association of Greater Boston

Mission: Since 1951, the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston has been helping girls in Greater Boston discover there is no limit to what they can do, become or achieve.  Our mentoring programs provide girls with opportunities to develop special friendships with caring and committed women volunteers where they can feel listened to, supported and encouraged.  By fostering these special relationships between girls and women, Big Sister helps girls cultivate the confidence, competence and caring they need to make realities of their dreams.

City Year
Mission: City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. By giving corps members the skills and opportunities to serve in schools and neighborhoods across the country, City Year seeks to help children succeed, build stronger communities, break down social barriers, develop young leaders, and foster active citizenship. City Year's vision is that one day the most commonly asked question of a young person will be, "Where are you going to do your service year?" Community Servings
Mission: Community Servings is dedicated to providing free home-delivered meals throughout eastern Massachusetts to people homebound with HIV/AIDS and other acute life-threatening illnesses, who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. We provide our clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious meals, reaching out to those in greatest need. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity, provide nutritionally and culturally appropriate meals, preserve the integrity of their family, and send the message that someone cares.

Cradles to Crayons
Mission: To provide, free of charge, low-income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. We also set a foundation for lasting change through the meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities we provide to thousands of youth and adults each year.

Mission: Our mission is to create healthier/greener learning environments.  We address issues pertaining to green cleaning, nutrition, recycling, reducing & reusing.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston

Mission: Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston, Inc. is a Massachusetts charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to building simple low-cost homes by forming partnerships with low-income families in need of decent and affordable housing. We believe homeownership is a vital step to help families break the cycle of poverty and contributes to pride in families and communities.

Hebrew SeniorLife/Hebrew Rehab Center

Mission: Hebrew Rehabilitation Center is committed to helping frail eldery fulfill its mission of providing the highest quality of care and life for frail elderly residents. Volunteers enhance resident care and quality of life by providing valuable services and skills to the institution. They help to meet the residents' physical, emotional and spiritual needs and augment staff in managing operations more efficiently.

Heifer International

Mission: The mission of Heifer International is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth.  Heifer provides livestock and training in animal husbandry and organic farming to help people around the world improve their nutrition and provide a sustainable source of additional income.

Horizons for Homeless Children
Mission: The mission of Horizons for Homeless Children is to improve the lives of homeless children and their families. We provide homeless children in Massachusetts with the nurturing, stimulation and opportunities for early education and play that all children need to learn and grow in healthy ways. To improve the lives of the children we serve over the long term, we connect their parents with the tools they need to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency. We provide leadership in advocating for homeless children and their families through leveraging and sharing our expertise with others and advocating with policy makers and the public.

Institute of Contemporary Art

Mission: The Institute of Contemporary Art strives to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists, and the creative process. The primary activities of the ICA are threefold: 1) to present outstanding contemporary art in all media, including visual art, music, film, video and performance, that is deserving of attention by Boston audiences, 2) to provide innovative experiential learning opportunities for people of all ages through direct encounters with artists and art making, and 3) To design interpretative programs that provide context, develop appreciation, and add meaning to contemporary art and culture.

Metro Lacrosse
Mission: MetroLacrosse is a not-for-profit organization that provides sports-based character education programs to approximately 500 youth in eight of Boston's urban communities -- Allston/Brighton, Chelsea, East Boston, East Cambridge, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Mattapan and Roxbury.  Through its character education curriculum that builds upon the lessons learned while participating in team sports, MetroLacrosse highlights the importance of a healthy lifestyle, focuses on developing strong teamwork and communication skills, and aims to teach participants lessons that are transferable to their daily lives.

Mission: The mission statement of the Museum of Science is to stimulate interest in the further understanding of science and technology and their importance for individuals and society.

Mytown, Inc.
Mission: mytown's mission is to use the process of sharing local history to empower young people and build appreciation of urban neighborhoods.

New England Aquarium
Mission: We aim to present, promote, and protect the world of water. The mission of the New England Aquarium is to increase understanding of aquatic life and environments, to enable people to act to conserve the world of water, and to provide leadership for the preservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources.

New England Baptist Hospital

People Making a Difference
Mission: People Making a Difference® (PMD) seeks to create a world in which people and businesses are socially aware and engaged in their communities such that they approach volunteerism by learning about problems and needs, becoming familiar with local charities that are working to address them, volunteering, and providing other needed resources to make a difference. PMD organizes one-time, hands-on volunteer projects for individuals on weekends and occasional weeknights, partners with businesses to promote effective community involvement during business hours, and trains and assists nonprofit leaders in quality volunteer management.

Perkins School for the Blind
Mission: Perkins School for the Blind is committed to providing education and services that build productive, meaningful lives for children and adults around the world who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired with or without other disabilities.

Room to Grow
Mission: Room to Grow's innovative program provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items throughout their children's critical first three years of life.

Roots & Shoots

Mission: The mission of Roots & Shoots is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment.

Samaritans
Mission: Samaritans' purpose is to alleviate despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. We accomplish this through services that emphasize confidential, nonjudgmental, and compassionate listening.

Science Club for Girls
Mission: SCFG's mission is to increase the self-confidence and science literacy of K-12th grade girls belonging to groups that are underrepresented in the sciences, through free, after school programs in experiential learning, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. Girls work with mentor-scientists who model and foster leadership, affirm college as an expectation, and promote careers in science and technology as goals and options.

Social Capital, Inc.
Mission: The mission of Social Capital Inc. is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. We envision a nation where individuals are strongly connected to their neighbors and play an active role in shaping the destiny of their communities. This increase in "social capital" will result in communities that are safer, healthier and more vital. We are also located in Dorchester and Lynn.

Special Olympics Massachusetts
Mission: The mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing them with continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, express courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics Athletes, and the community.

Strong Women, Strong Girls
Mission: The mission of Strong Women, Strong Girls is to utilize the lessons learned from strong women throughout history to encourage girls and young women to become strong women themselves. By building communities of women committed to supporting positive social change, Strong Women, Strong Girls works to create cycles of mutual empowerment for women and girls. SWSG serves 250 girls at 23 elementary schools and community centers in Allston, Brighton, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chinatown, Dorchester, East Boston, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury and South Boston. This program involves college women mentors from four higher education institutions: Boston College, Harvard University, Northeastern University and Simmons College.

TeenVoices
Mission: Teen Voices is an intensive journalism mentoring and leadership development program for teen girls in Boston that creates an internationally distributed print and online alternative magazine reaching 54,000 readers worldwide, and with 7.6 million hits from 98 countries. Founded in 1988 by two young women who believed in the power of girls to create social change through writing and art, our goal is to encourage teen girls around the world to use their skills to speak out on issues, create positive and powerful media, and lead change in their communities.

Tenacity
Mission: Tenacity is a year round youth development organization that offers free tennis instruction and academic enrichment to 4600 Boston youth in the summer and intensive after-school programs that combine tennis instruction/competition and academic support with a focus on life-skills.

United Way of Massachusetts Bay & Merrimack Valley
Mission: Mission: United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley brings the community together to help improve people's lives and strengthen the neighborhoods in our region. Vision: The Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley region will be the best place for children in the country.

WGBH

Mission: WGBH enriches people's lives through programs and services that educate, inspire, and entertain, fostering citizenship and culture, the joy of learning, and the power of diverse perspectives.

Youth Enrichment Services
Mission: YES inspires and challenges youth with physical and mental activities that foster life-long respect for self, others, and the environment. Since 1968,Youth Enrichment Services has taken more than 100,000 young people to the great outdoors. YES engages urban kids in an experience that takes them places they've never been before, mentally and physically. YES teaches kids to dare to try something new, and in the process, gives them the confidence to believe they can achieve anything. With its highly successful outdoor and environmental experiential education programs - Operation Snowsports, Outdoor Adventure, and the YES Academy - YES is helping to lower the student attrition rate among urban youth by offering unique opportunities for positive risk-taking and practical learning that is both problem-focused and exposes them to the real-world.
