Offer Guides to Parents and Students
Now, with TeenLife Boston, schools can refer parents and students to our useful guides instead of struggling to update endless lists of programs and organizations. Parents, especially those who work, welcome resources that help them to keep their younger teens safe and engaged over the summer. Older teens appreciate resources that help them make decisions on their own and find ways to fulfill high school community service requirements.

We make it easy for you to offer these resources to your school community. All you have to do is distribute an announcement to parents via email that contains a link to an online order form and instructions to use a special code when placing an order by check or credit card. We will process the order and ship the Guides directly to each household. In return, you will receive 10% of each sale to benefit a cause of your choice.

Last year, the following schools participated in such a program: BU Academy, BB&N, Dana Hall School, Fessenden, Noble & Greenough, Park School, Roxbury Latin, and Winsor. To set up a similar distribution arrangement, please contact Mary Hawkins at mailto:mhawkins@teenlifeboston.com

Google Groups
Community Service Coordinators
Teachers, administrators or staff members who are involved in coordinating or implementing community service activities at a middle or high school in Greater Boston, are invited to join a Yahoo Group that TeenLife Boston has set up to help you exchange ideas with individuals in similar positions. All they need is a Yahoo user id and password to join the group and members of the group are “approved” by a moderator before they can join the discussion.

Members can choose to receive messages from the group each time they are posted (to an email address of their choice) or in a single, “daily digest”. Click here to print out detailed instructions on how to join the group.

Internship Program Consulting Services
TeenLife Boston advises high schools on how to launch or expand internship opportunities for seniors by tapping into the rich network among parents, faculty and alumni of the school. We are also exploring software solutions that can make this process effortless and hope to have a solution in place by this summer. Inquiries should be sent to Marie Schwartz at mschwartz@teenlifeboston.com .

Summer Job Hunting and Resume-Writing Workshops
In the spring, we offer presentations to 8th and 9th graders (and their parents) on how to find summer jobs. This is a good age to target because a few employers hire teens as young as 14. Even if students don’t work for pay, there is a lot they can do at 14 and 15 to gain the experience for a job that pays after they turn 16. This presentation can be delivered in one or two sessions, with the first focusing on everything they need to know about job hunting and earning money and the second focusing on creating a resume.
